Overview

The requirement index is a metric used in RuneLibris to measure the inaccessibility of content in RuneScape.

Determining inaccessibility

The requirement index is based on requirements to access a piece of content. It uses a sum of all the variable values the requirement consist of. If there a requirement has no value (i.e a quest), it is assigned a value of one. Sub-requirements are taken into account. Required items count are not taken into account as they are typically not dependent on player progression (i.e something can be bought from the Grand Exchange).

Concrete example

The following are the requirement for the quest Jed Hunter:

• Impressing the Locals
• Flag Fall
  • Impressing the Locals
• Head of the Family
  • Impressing the Locals
• Spiritual Enlightenment
  • Impressing the Locals
  • Complete the 'Meet the Assassin' voyage in player-owned port
• 91 Crafting
• 90 Hunter

When excluding duplicate requirements in Notepad++ Notepad++, we end up with this:

90 Hunter
91 Crafting
Complete the 'Meet the Assassin' voyage in player-owned port
Flag Fall
Head of the Family
Impressing the Locals
Spiritual Enlightenment

Using the following logic, we can determine, the requirement index:

As such, the requirement index for Jed Hunter is 186.

Special cases

If the content in question is Lost media, the requirement index should have the number of 9999 to denote it's special status. The historical requirement index should be mentionned in parenthesis.
