Info/Quest state policy

Overview[edit]

RuneLibris do not use quest varbits to determine the amount of objectives in a quest[1]. This because although the final state of the varbit is stored in the cache, how exactly the quest progress is unclear. For example, While Guthix Sleeps has its last varbit at 910 and the quest obviously do not have 910 distinct states[2].

The Quest journal interface cannot be used either. For example the journal for Desert Treasure only has 7 states[3] but the cache list the quest varbit varbit endvalue as 15[4]

As such, the amount of states in a given quest is manually determined based on in-game dialogue and RS Wiki guides. If there is a doubt as to whatever a quest state exists or not, a "more than less" approach is taken as it is preferable to have surplus quest states that do not actually exists rather than miss one that does[5]
